That's a panel from the ill-fated Batman and Michael Jackson mini-series from 1985.
..The joke of that panel is "Quiet or Papa spank"!...
Isn't that what he said to Dick Grayson in Frank Miller's "All-Star Batman and Robin" issue #2,when Dick was crying like a little girl in the Batmobile...?
You can tell it's a panel from an old comic because nowadays Batman would say "SHUT YOUR FAT MOUTH OR I'LL PUT YOUR HEAD THROUGH THIS PLATE-GLASS WINDOW! GRRRR." But with more cussing and gnashing of teeth.
That's GOT to be doctored!
Maybe "Papa Spank" was some weird cult leading villian from that era?
I think this may actually be from the first ever appearance of Catwoman (that's who Bats is manhandling in the panel)... I'll have to do some research...
Yep, I just checked the Batman Chronicles trade (which Gregg pointed out is reprinting all the Batman amd Detective Comics stories in chronological order) and yes, that is CATWOMAN there in the panel getting her disguise wiped off by Bats... weird.
