From the Vault, Part Five

Here's another blast from the past... COMIX CONNECTION BULLETIN #2 (January, 1991, Senwal Publishing). The second issue of this seminal newsletter features our "Grand Re-Opening" in which we moved to the third location within Delco Plaza (second spot was down that long hall into the "fallout shelter") and into the large space that we affectionately called "The Spaghetti Factory" or "The Archery Range" because it was 15 feet wide and 100 feet long. Boy those were the days, huh? That's when we were used as a shortcut for all the moviegoers heading to the UA Theatre across the hall. Good times. Anyway, as part of the celebration we had TIM TRUMAN (HAWKWORLD, SCOUT,GRIMJACK) and TOM LYLE (STARMAN, ROBIN) on hand to sign autographs and do sketches for fans, Uncle Igor of STARVIEW 92 FM live-broadcasted to add to the chaos, prizes were given away and everything in the entire store was 20% OFF! WOO-HOOO!
Of special interest was this notice:

HOLY MACKERAL, he's gonna be SIXTEEN YEARS OLD THIS YEAR! I remember when he was just 22 inches tall!

I remember meeting Tim Truman then. The little ad with Ian really hits home because my son Tadd will be 16 in May. I remember meeting Truman while I was pushing Tadd in a stroller. Man does time fly.
Wow! Classic/old ad...
Yeah, that old, long store was our first meeting, Bill...I think it was 1991!
(Inside joke: I loved the bathroom in that old store...hahaha)
Manager Ken
Wow. I used to love that second location, cuz I would walk down that hall singing the theme to "Get Smart."
Da Da Daaaaaa Dum
Da Da Daaaaaa Dum!
Da Da Da-Da-Da Dum
Da Da-Da-Da Dum
Da DUUUUUUUM
yep, lots of us sang that tune walking down the hallway. It's amazing that anyone ever found us there. I can't believe its been 16 years since we made the move to the "spaghetti factory". Seems just like yesterday.... And yes Ken the bathroom was interesting in that store, thats why you were never allowed to use it! Remember the "mission impossible" style robbery or all our anime video tapes? Geez, I still can't believe that kid pulled that off.
HA! The "topless" bathroom! (No, not that way, it just didn't have a celing.)
I have a sketch somewhere by Tim Truman where he comments on our "Facilities"...
And I also have the police report around here somewhere from that robbery...
Like I said... GOOD TIMES!
Sometimes when I was on that old location I thought I heard a water fountain running for atmosphere.
Now I know the shocking truth!!!
Er... that was Ned.
*ahem*
