Cool. I just read that there may be a new movie in 2008 that centers on Kirk and spock's first meeting at Starfleet academy. I think they want to re-invigorate the franchise.

Yeah, I read about that. I guess now Kirk and Spock have reached iconic status like Sherlock Holmes, James Bond and Superman... not tied to a single actor's portrayal...

Star Trek could DEFINITELY use some new life. That "New Frontiers" video that Bill posted links to featured some of the best Star Trek stuff I've seen in years, and it was done by "amateurs."

I really feel that the super-rabid trekkies killed Star Trek. The anal-retentive obsession with continuity, coupled with a very vocal fanbase, restricted any creativity the writers may have been able to take.

Just my opinion...

I couldn't agree more. Man, when I saw those internet episodes of Original Star Trek, I started babbling excitedly to Manager Ken about how they hit all the cool things right on the head. I think I scared him...

You did scare him, and I scared several customers raving about the New Frontier. I can't wait till the next episode. BTW, does anyone have these burned to DVD that I can borrow? My PC is too slow to watch them on it.
