The WEEKEND Comics Chat Open Thread - the Vicious Killer Bunny Edition!

Here you go... tell us what you think was good this week - and what you think was El Stinko. I liked 52, but I was a bit uncomfortable with the gory violence perpetrated by Black Adam. Guess I'm gettng old.

And there will be no more talk of Oompa Loompas! Begone foul creatures!

Heh heh.

hmmm...i like 52's horrific violence, although DC is pushing the limits a bit(with Checkmate amd the like) New Avengers has been so good lately....along with Daredevil, Captain America, Moon Knight, Wolverine,Ultimates and She-Hulk(which i did not get to read this week ,thanks UPS) Marvel is moving up my must read list, which is primarily DC and Indie dominated.DC's OYL campaign has been a success for the most part wiyh the exception of a few incredibly mediocre titles, see Battle for Bludhaven, new directions for Batman, Superman and a host of other titles have been super. Anybody into fantasy should check out Magicians Apprentice great Oeming story ,terrific art in a premium single format for $2.95. I love the Poe Haunt of Horror mini and can't say enough about Testament, American Virgin, Dmz and !00 Bullets ....pass go, collect 200 dollars and head to to the Connection and pick these books up......peace out fellow comic lovers see ya in Snowtown.

What surprised me was that 52 was a CODE APPROVED BOOK! I guess the Comics Code is finally dead. The publishers should stop paying membership fees...

shadow: UPS delivered the lost orphan box on Thursday afternoon... all is well again.

I just caught up on TESTAMENT, HELLBLAZER and BATMAN YEAR 100... all great reads! I have the E A Poe book on my stack...

Bill, good call on that "talent" book , picked it up on your rec. and enjoyed it . I still have 2 more books on Yr 100 but I am loving it,definately Pope's most concise and directed book i have read yet....i will have to revisit "100%" which i only grazed over a while back. Well back to my reding of the complete Sandman volumes, lovin' it all over again.btw the new "Eternals" mini looks fantastic everybody should add it now cuz it's gonna go quick.(Kirby characters revisited by Gaiman with J.R. jr art what's not to lov

shadow: Yeah, you're spot on about Pope... this is definitely his most accessable work - and flipping cool to boot! I will also have to dig out 100% and re-read it. Oooooh, SANDMAN... it's nearly time for my once-a-year re-read! That and FROM HELL. And then the complete LOVE AND ROCKETS... And then MIRACLEMAN... And then BRAT PACK/MAXIMORTAL... And then...

Bill: The comics code thing. I didn't even know they still existed. Except when I saw the violence in Ultimate X-Men #1 then saw the seal...
Dead as a doorknob.
When Black Adam beheaded the guy (what's his name) in IC#6 in a particularly nasty way, I thought: Y'know, I think that guy has some issues."
Can someone fill me in on what his deal is and why he feels he has to dismember at least one person each day?

Also: Are there any Nextwave Crayon Butchery variants left? That looked absolutely awesome.

It looked to me like a black-and-white comic book.

Nope. You can color it. So cool. Newsarama.com is having a special contest. It'll be so fun to make the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier purple with red touchups.
