I've always found clowns to be creepy
... and Ronald McDonald is no exception. I found this comic in the stacks at the Mechanicsburg Comix Connection:

(RONALD MCDONALD #2, Charlton Comics, January 1971)
Notice how "off-model" Ronald is... back then they didn't control images as tightly as they do now... it's all about the copyright. This picture on the back cover is more to spec:

But it's still creepy looking. And the only thing I've learned over the years about McDonalds is that if you eat their food, you will develop a clown-like physique.
Oh, and the "Surprise that awaits you in the middle of this book"? It must have been a poster, but it's gone. Somebody probably ate it. But in a way, THAT'S a surprise, right?
This comic is available at Comix Connection for the SUPERSIZED PRICE of only $15.00!

I guess Ronald wasn't part of the deal when DC bought the Charlton heroes in the 1980s or there would have been a "fill-in" for him in "Watchmen."
Well wait...We've always assumed that Comedian was the Watchmen version of the The Peacemaker, but "clown"..."comedian"....not too much difference between the two.
Did I just crack Alan Moore's code??
Dude, I know exactly what you mean about clowns. All that makeup and hair means they are hiding something... something terrible. I absolutely dispise clowns! (shutter!)
I might buy it so I can Burn it. Reminds me of John Wayne Gacy

I think we should make the Clown Ronald fight the Burger King Guy on a narrow beam above a shark-filled swimming pool that has been primed with Mime Chum...
I would Pay Big BUCKS to see that. That Burger King Guy also gives me the creeps.
