Both Justice League: New Frontier and Superman: Doomsday look awesome... but I don't read any DC books... but not from lack of trying. From my experience I just can't get into them.

Are they any that are recommended to try to start out on?

sam, read New Frontier... it's more about heroes than about DC Comics. See if you like it.
