Dave Stevens R.I.P.

This is just sad... Dave Stevens, one of the truly talented artists in the comic world, has passed away today due to complications from leukemia.

HERE'S his Wikipedia entry.

And HERE'S his official website.

Very very sad. Dave Stevens' work was one of the highlights of the early '80s and was instrumental in bringing me back to comics. He will be greatly missed.

I had not heard this sad news until I clocked in on the site today. This is just awful. Rocketeer changed how a lot of people looked at comics, and the movie was much better than most people think. Dave Stevens could draw ANYTHING. Period stuff, pretty girls, you name it. The world is emptier because there won't be any new Dave Stevens art coming into it.

Dave Stevens was also responsible for bringing Betty Page to prominence, and for getting people to pay her for the use of her images.

Now I'm sad again.

I guess he lives on as Cliff Secord. Think I'll go re-read the ROCKETEER stuff.
