Why we love Mike Hawthorne, local artist of DC/Vertigo's UN- MEN!

I got this email last week from artist Mike Hawthorne:
Bill,
First, let me say you and Ned are old. Yeah, I said it. OLLLLD! See, I can remember coming into your shop as a kid to buy comics! A KID! Now, I HAVE kids! See, you're old!
Second, being old has it's benefits... like nurturing the the coolest comic shop in the world for so long!
Because of this silly comic business I'm involved it I get to see a lot of comic shops across the country, and I've loved them all. I've never met a comic shop I didn't like. Still, Comix Connection hangs with the best of the best! It's still my favorite shop, even after going to all these great shops in bigger cities.
As an independent creator, you were a Godsend. I got more good advice and support from you guys then I can ever adequately say thank you for. I can honestly say you guys played a pivotal role in my career in comics.
So, you know...thanks!
best,
Mike
PS - Sorry about the being old cracks... the good thing is that at your age you'll never remember I said it after about 15 mintues!
*sniff* Brings a tear to this old man's eye.
Thanks Mike, and keep it up! (You guys are all reading Mike's UN-MEN, right? RIGHT?)
Labels: 20th anniversary, cool comic creators

That's hilarious! And a fantastic compliment to a fantastic store. You guys should be proud to receive such a compliment.
The truth is you really do deserve it.
Yeah, that's very nice... NOW GET OFF MY LAWN! AND I'M KEEPING THE BALL!
