LET THE CONTEST CONTINUE!
We're back again for another bout of the brave! This time we have two characters who have currently taken over the role of their predecessors. Captain America died and afterward his former sidekick Bucky Barnes took over the helm of Captain America, "Defender of the Free!"
Likewise, Dick Grayson, the first Robin took over Batman's cowl to defend the dark and ugly Gotham City.
We recieved many comments with our last bout and would love to see that enthusiasm continue throughout! So without further ado...
The contenders' powers:
CAPTAIN AMERICA- Skilled acrobat, fighter, scout, and assassin. Vibranium-steel alloy shield, Pistol, Superhuman strength derived from cybernetic arm. Trained by Captain America (Steve Rogers).
BATMAN- Acrobat, master martial artist, tactician, detective, and hi-tech gadgets and weapons. Trained by Batman (Bruce Wayne).

I pretty much came to a toss up on this one.
Cap with the willingness to kill and his super strength cyborg arm and Batman with his utility belt.
It came down to a draw except when Bucky gets in close and pops Batman's head with his cy-thumb and cy-index finger!
And he would get in close!
Hmmm, this is a tough one. But I think I'm going to go with Bats on this one, and not just because he's Batman.
In the past few years we've seen Dick Grayson really mature as Nightwing and this continues as he comes to grips with the loss of Bruce and his assumption of the cowl. While I give Bucky's assassin/secret ops training credit, Grayson has trained under Batman since his childhood. Both Bruce and Dick have very closely tied origins, making the bond between them all the stronger. With Dick continuing as Batman, he's honoring his mentor to the best of his abilities, which are quite formidable.
And there's simply no way anyone is sneaking up on Batman without some sort of superpowers, sorry Jared.
I don't know either of these two well enough to vote!...
they don't have powers really, Eric.
they just fight good and bucky has his weapons listed above and batman has the usual batman weapons.
I have to go with Bucky, even though I'm really digging the new "Batman and Robin" book, Grayson still feels like a stand-in for the REAL Batman...
Quick question Jared: are you doing this in an elimination/bracket style? Like, will we see Superman battling it out in some other poll against, say, Thanos? Also, how about some B-listers? Booster Gold -vs- Moon Knight? (Would he be a B-List Marvel character? Maybe Iron Fist instead?)

I didn't know they revived Bucky, but I voted for Dick Grayson because Bucky's been frozen for so long, he probably doesn't know about television, push button telephone dialing and the internet. He's probably a lot like Mr. Burns or your grandpa.
I am doing this bracket style and there are many b-list characters to come including some "just for fun" battles! Eventually it will get down to 1/2 the characters at which point it will turn to a popularity contest and people will vote for their favorite, so that when jubilee is up against superman there's not a puddle of yellow and some roller blades.
and steve bucky got picked up out of the water pretty quickly and was not frozen like steve rogers but the idea of a phone may be foreign to him.
Bucky has that fight hands down, not sure how anyone could actually doubt this ya know?

Not sure why exactly I voted for Cap other than his cyberkinetic arm being the only "one up" I saw between the two. (He's also the underdog right now in the vote which makes me want him to win as well.) :)
Yeah, looks like substitute Bats is gonna win this by a long shot. It was much closer for Supes and whatshisname...
ALSO...the polls are all open for a month so keep the votes coming if you haven't already voted!
Seriously? If this was the originals, I'd go Bruce. BUT, it isn't. BuckyCap all the way. If someone thinks Mr Barnes is not on the same or HIGHER skill level than Dick, you're just silly. Silly, I say. The old guy with ease.
BuckyCap easily! They are pretty much evenly skilled imo. But Bucky has that robot arm, so if he gets in close BOOM! I also see dick pulling his punches so he doesn't kill Bucky by mistake. I see Bucky going all out, not caring if he accidentally kills Dick... well maybe after the fight he will care.
Um, dealing with a robot arm? I'm sure Dick has never done that before with something from his utility belt: Emp to disrupt it, acid to corrode it, small explosive to blow it to bits (just to name a few). I mean Bucky is an assassin but Steve Rogers could never give near the amount of depth of training that Bruce would have given Dick. You think a guy who is trained to shoot and throw a shield around has a chance against a guy who was trained in a multitude of martial arts by one of the world's greatest martial artists/fighters in general. Bucky wouldn't stand a chance against Dick especially in close quarters considering all of this.
Very cool idea for a showdown. I am loving Dick as Batman, but I would have to go with Bucky. I mean the fact that he was a war veteran alone gives him an edge.

Important thing to remember concerning guns in this match...
Dick has police training. You don't think he knows what do do when someone pulls a gun on him? Besides, how many guns have been pulled on him during his careers as Robin and then Nightwing? Now compare all those times to how many times he's taken a bullet...
Compare Bucky shooting a bullet at a guy with police training!
If Dick can land the objects on Bucky's arm, passing his shield why couldn't Bucky shoot Batman in the face or knee cap and then crush his windpipe when hes downed?

Bucky could barely live with being Cap, do you really think he would just kill someone without knowing the whole gist? I didn't think that is his style. I know he can kill, but I do not see him as the "shoot to kill" guy everytime. Bucky's morals keep him from being able to perform his most capable function. So, Bucky beats Bucky.
Man, I deliberated for so long you guys opened another poll, lol. I think the fight is pretty evenly matched, but I ended up going with Bucky Cap because I like him just a little better than Dick Batman (they made Bucky...cool (!)). He at least has the decency to make his own Cap suit, but by that same token I understand why the image of the Batman must be mantained. :-P
That said, neither of these guys will ever be Cap or Batman to me, and I would like to see a match up between Bruce and Steve sometime. XD
