From the Wahl Collection: An Earth Man On Venus
So I was just puttering around in my basement, digging through one of the boxes of stuff I've accumulated (I can't really call it a collection, as that implies intent) and I ran across one of my favorite comic books ever, AN EARTH MAN ON VENUS, AVON, 1951:
Quite the spectacular cover, eh? It's the quintessential garishly-colored, pulp-type science fiction comic book cover - a babe, a monster and a stern-jawed rescuer.. it's got it all!
Remembering that I also had a vintage 1950 copy of the Avon paperback , I dug that out to compare the two:
Pretty awesome, too! Hero in underwear stabbing giant ant, bravely protecting (winged and antennae-ed) heroine.
And then I noticed something. Check out what 1950 paperback cover gal is wearing:
Now look at what comic book cover hero is wearing:
WHAT IS GOING ON? THAT DUDE STOLE THAT GIRL'S OUTFIT!
Same blue dress, with the same gold trim! Crazy.
Labels: from the vault, what's wrong with bill

Why does 1951 guy have antennae and wings and 1950 guy does not. He is supposed to be an "earth man" correct?
By golly, you're right! That adds a new level of crazy!
